| Photo By: Danny Turcotte Jr I like the framing in this picture. The couple is in the center of the ring and I like the lines coming from the circle. The lighting adds texture to the dress. I also like the warm tone from the sparklers. It adds a vintage feel to the image. |

| Photo By: Jennifer Short I liked the short depth of field in the image. The feet in the foreground are in focus, but the lines still lead to the feet in the background. I also like the color in the photo. Stage lights are some of my favorite because of the different shades they show. This shade of pink adds a vintage feel to this image. |

| Photo By: Kimberly Chorney I love the lighting in the picture. The way it shines through her dress adds texture to it that you wouldn't normally see. I like how you can see the slight motion in her skirt from where she turned. The lines from her shadow lead the eye to her and the pop of pink from her shoes also captures the viewers eye. |

I used a short depth of field and rule of thirds. My kitten’s face is
about a third of the way down and my hand takes up the bottom third. |

My
fingers lead the eye in to the kitten’s face. The short depth of field adds
form to my hand and the kitten’s body. I like the texture of his fur against
the smoothness of my hand and the leaves under him. I wish I had left a
little bit of space between my fingers and his mouth.
This
image is fairly well balanced with the kitten taking up the top half of the
image and my hand in the bottom half. My hand gives a better sense of how
small he is. The image has a lot of contrast between my hand and the darkness
  of his fur. |

I wanted to show his innocence and how
new everything is to him. Whenever I am around him and his siblings, he
always comes over and smells everything I have whether it be my phone, my
  camera, or me. |

I
love how sharp this picture is and how much contrast it has. |

I like the silhouette
of the girl. It’s a fairly long depth of field to get the horizon in focus,
but keep the girl and birds in focus. |

I
like the splash of redish orange in the skirt of her dress. The line in her
legs is parallel to the horizon line. The folds in her dress add texture as
well as the ground. The girls and the birds all have their own space and her
legs don’t intersect with the horizon.
The
birds look even smaller in the air compared to the girl. Having the birds in the
shot adds variety and harmony. Having that red in her skirt brings the focus
to her instead of everything around her. |

I think the
photographer wanted to catch the technique in her leap and give the sense
that she was flying with the birds. |

Critique |
I
really like how everything has its own space. It would have been really easy
to have her arm intersect with one of the birds, but she was able to get her
  in her own bubble. |

I used a
fairly small aperture to be able to get the steps and the building in
  focus.   |

The
lines in the steps lead up to the Rotunda. The shadows on the statue give it
a three dimensional shape. I like the different shades of grey on the steps.
I wish the lines had been able to line up better when I aligned the
  individual pictures.
The
statue of Jefferson in front of the building gives a better sense of how big
it is. I wish that I could have gotten the sky to be the same shade of blue throughout
  the image. |

I wanted to
get the historical aspect of the Rotunda with Jefferson standing in front of
it. UVA is his school and he should be a bigger part of it. |

Critique |
I
think the images could have lines up better, but overall it looks nice. I
really wish the scaffolding hadn’t been there when I took the pictures, but
that couldn’t have been helped. |
